TURKEY:  Fall 2017: CLOSED
               Spring 2018: CLOSED



RABBIT: September 1, 2017 - February 28, 2018  Statewide bag limit. Limited rabbit hunting area during gun hunts, check the park map for the correct Zone.  NO DOGS during the firearm deer hunts.

SQUIRREL: May 15, 2017 - February 28, 2018 Statewide bag limit. Limited squirrel hunting area during gun hunts, check the park map for the correct Zone. NO DOGS during the firearm deer hunts.

DEER - 3-Point Rule Applies

  • Archery/Crossbow:  September 23, 2017 - February 28, 2018Limited Archery/Crossbow during permitted gun hunts. A map can be provided at the Visitor Center.
  • Youth Modern Gun: November 4-5, 2017 (Shooting Range CLOSED)


  • Muzzleloader: January 6-10, 2018 (Shooting Range CLOSED)
  • Modern Gun: December 2-6, 2017 (Shooting Range CLOSED)
  • Modern Gun Impaired Mobility Hunt: December 11-12, 2017 Call Hobbs at 479-789-5000 for further information 
Seasonal limit is Four deer; no more than one legal buck. NO DOGS.


      1. One legal buck with archery. 
      2. Four does with archery.
      3. One legal buck or one doe with muzzle loader permit.
      4. One legal buck or one doe with modern gun permit.
      5. Button Bucks and young male deer with antlers shorter than two inches long will count as bucks.
      6. Limit during the modern gun youth hunt and the modern gun mobility impaired permit hunt is two deer, one buck (no antler restrictions) and one doe.
      7. No dogs
      8. The shooting range will be closed during permit hunts, except December 11-12, 2017.
      9. No camping allowed during youth modern gun, modern gun and muzzleloader hunts.
      10. Use of two, three, or four-wheeled or similar off-road motorbikes/ATV's are not permitted on the area. 
      11. Only permit holders are allowed to engage in any hunting-related activity during permit hunts.

CHECK STATIONS - All deer harvested with Modern Guns or Muzzleloaders must be checked in at the Park’s Maintenance Complex on War Eagle Road near the intersection of Hwy 12 and War Eagle Road.  Please remember that Hobbs is Zone 320 (not Zone 1) when you check in your deer.

Visitor safety is of the utmost importance to us. For this reason we ask that you please abide to closure advisories found in "Trail & Shooting Range Status".
