THE HOBBS LIBRARY (Summertime Recommendation)
Hobbs State Park-Conservation Area has a collection of resource books available to our staff and volunteers. This page is dedicated to showcasing one book at a time and sometimes these books are available for purchase in our gift shop.
This summer we have picked a book titled, "Arkansas Butterflies and Moths" by Lori Spencer. On pages 289-291, she has the below Butterfly Checklist (see PDF below book picture). Come on over to Hobbs September-October to see Monarch Butterflies as they make there migration through our area. This book is also available in our gift shop. Buy local and support Arkansas State Parks so we can continue to allow free admission!
Want to see pictures of the more common butterflies found at Hobbs, stop by the Visitor Center and check out the Citizen Science corner. Hint, look on the walls!
Park Interpreter Chris found on www.monarchwatch.org, that early October is the peak time to catch monarchs migrating through. We have seen them already now, early September.
Check out this Spicebush Swallowtail Caterpillar we just found today (9.6.19).
